The Porter Place Ranch has been in my family for 121 years. The Porter family came from the Southeastern part of America in 1887 in covered wagons with the first great wave of settlers to this area. We are building upon the past in consideration for our future through eco-friendly living and farming with all solar and wind generated power as well as grey water runoff to an organic garden. In the spring of 2010 we will begin an influx of previously indigenous species in an attempt to repopulate this region with the prairie chicken and black-footed ferret. You can read more about their history in the rare-book Memory Cups written by Millie Porter.
